# Forecast Events

> How to apply events (promotions, seasonality) to forecasts

# Forecast Events

Forecast events represent demand influencers such as promotions, seasonality, marketing campaigns, and external factors.

## Creating an Event

1. Navigate to **Plan** → **Forecast Events**
2. Click **Create Event**
3. Configure:
   * **Name**: Descriptive name for the event
   * **Event Type**: Promotion, Seasonality, Marketing, External
   * **Start Date**: When event begins
   * **End Date**: When event ends
   * **Products**: Products affected by event
   * **Channels**: Channels affected by event
   * **Locations**: Locations affected by event

## Event Types

### Promotions

Sales promotions and discounts:

* **Discount Percentage**: Percentage off
* **Expected Lift**: Expected demand increase
* **Promotion Type**: Sale, clearance, BOGO, etc.

### Seasonality

Seasonal demand patterns:

* **Seasonal Factor**: Multiplier for base demand
* **Season**: Holiday, back-to-school, summer, etc.
* **Historical Pattern**: Based on previous years

### Marketing Campaigns

Marketing-driven demand:

* **Campaign Type**: TV, digital, print, etc.
* **Expected Reach**: Expected audience size
* **Conversion Rate**: Expected conversion to sales

### External Factors

External demand influencers:

* **Weather**: Weather-related demand changes
* **Events**: Local events, conferences, etc.
* **Competition**: Competitive actions

## Applying Events to Forecasts

1. Open a forecast scenario
2. Click **Apply Events**
3. Select events to apply
4. System will:
   * Adjust forecast values based on event impact
   * Show before/after comparison
   * Update confidence intervals

## Event Impact Analysis

View how events affect forecasts:

* **Demand Lift**: Increase in expected demand
* **Timing**: When impact occurs
* **Products Affected**: Which products see impact
* **Channels Affected**: Which channels see impact
